Our Staff

Pediatric Urgent Care has hand-selected a professional pediatric staff to provide your children with the best possible care around. We will greet you with a smile and show you that we care about your child's health as we would our own.

  Our Doctors
Dr. Paul Thomas, MD FAAP ABIHM
Dr. Thomas founded Pediatric Urgent Care in 2009. He opened and worked at the Pediatric Afterhours Clinic at Emanuel Children’s hospital from 1988 to 1993 and has worked as a busy pediatrician in the Portland area the past 20 years. Dr. Thomas saw the need for an urgent care dedicated to children only. So often family and adult urgent cares and emergency rooms are frequented by adults seeking drugs and that environment can be frightening for children. With the H1N1 flu reaching epidemic proportions, the need was never greater for a pediatrician-staffed, child-friendly office-setting pediatric urgent care.

Dr. Thomas graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1985. He completed his pediatric residency at UCSF – Fresno and UCSD – San Diego California between 1985 – 1988. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Alternative and Complementary Medicine. He loves children and has 9 of his own (six adopted).
Dr. David B. Bell, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP
After graduating from Grant High School in Portland, Dr Bell attended Oregon State University receiving a B.S. degree with Honors in pharmacy. After practicing pharmacy in Portland for one year, he pursued graduate school at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver and received a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology. He then received an M.D. degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the same institution in 1969.

His pediatric residency training was obtained at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital from 1969 to 1972. He then served as a pediatrician with the rank of Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Fort Knox, Kentucky, from 1972 to 1974.

He returned to Portland in 1974 and joined a long-established clinic where he remained practicing pediatrics at it and in its successor organizations for 36 years before retiring in the spring of 2010.

He was Chairman of the Pediatrics Department at Emanuel for 5 years and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at OHSU.

In addition having 8 adult children between the two of them, Dr. Bell and his wife are raising 2 children (now ages 13 and 19 years) they adopted from Russia in 2002.
Dr. James Ledbetter, MD, FAAP
Dr. Jim had been practicing pediatrics since completing his residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 1991. He spent three years as an Air Force Pediatrician and worked for several years providing pediatric care in several emergency departments in Denver. He has three adult children, the youngest of whom is completing her bachelor's degree at the University of Oregon. Dr. Jim spends spare time as a volunteer mountain steward for the Mt. St. Helens Institute, guiding hikes and snowshoe excursions around Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.

She and her husband recently were married in beautiful Jamaica. They both enjoy game-nights with their closest friends, going to the beach, music, watching movies, and walking their dog. She is very excited to have been a recent addition to the Integrative Pediatrics team and she looks forward to what these next few chapters in her life have in store!<br />
Jessica Platt, Reception
I was born in New Jersey but raised in Lake Chelan, Washington. I moved to Oregon a little over three years ago after graduating from high school. I wanted to move to the "City of Roses" because I love the rainy environment and people. I am currently in college and finishing up my prerequisites in hopes to apply and be accepted into a nursing program next fall. Some of my hobbies include reading, basketball, spending time with my fiancé and twin sister, and watching movies.
Noah Thomas, Reception
Noah is the eldest son of Dr. Thomas and loves using his Spanish while working for Integrative Pediatrics to create a smooth transition for Spanish speaking people that come into the office. While undecided of a major at Portland State, he looks forward to starting his junior year and discovering his future career. In his free-time, Noah loves writing music, staying active, watching basketball, and spending time with his soon-to-be wife, Jessie.
